ABSTRACT
The preceding chapters have examined some of the building blocks which comprise British civilization and have their own distinctive cultures. This chapter looks at how leisure pastimes, sports and the arts in Britain are represented; how they contribute to a whole way of life; and how they are funded by state, voluntary and private contributions, as well as their own profits.
