ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 opens with discussion around the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success based upon research on social/emotional learning programs and interventions. The ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors are research-based standards organized under three broad domains: academic, career, and social/emotional. Thirty-five specific standards are described that can be used by school counselors to assess the impact of their programs and interventions on any of the three domains and at any grade level. An important part of Chapter 3 is the case example provided of an evidence-based program, Student Success Skills (SSS), which is closely aligned with the ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors and SEL research. The chapter concludes with a detailed research summary of the SSS program and a crosswalk between the ASCA Mindsets and behaviors with SSS.
