ABSTRACT

This chapter contains a lesson on how to implement each over-the-counter data (OTCD) Package/Display standard. The way in which a data system and its reports are packaged or displayed relates to the tool's design, such as its data visualization, user interface, and more. An ideal data reporting environment should reflect the OTCD Package/Display standards, which stipulate research-based ways data systems/reports can be designed effectively. To have OTCD that is thus easy for educators to use just as with good over-the-counter medicine the way in which data is packaged or displayed must establish and maintain credibility. When users report problems with displayed data, garner specifics from them concerning what is wrong. Another common inappropriate display or calculation, which is not exclusive to performance data, relates to comparing counts from separate entities rather than percentages when those entities differ in total number.
