ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 concludes the book and locates it within the wider corpus of literature on China's re-emergence and issues of energy security. It is explained that the primary goal of the book was to demonstrate how China has been positioned as an antagonist to US interests and how US/Western perceptions of ES have served to reinforce this. The chapter reiterates why poststructuralism is so useful in examining discourses of the CT and ES. The chapter concludes by drawing out lessons learned from the case study and exploring how the methods of analysis could be relevant to other, broader issues.
