ABSTRACT

The knowledge of the Necessary Existent cannot be dependent on time so that It could assert that a fact is true at the present time which will be different tomorrow. Nor can it be true that Its judgment is related to time, as to ‘being today’ and ‘being tomorrow’, so that that which would hold true for It in the future would be different from that which holds true for It at the present. In fact, due to the thing known to it, a knower has in itself (nafs-i khwīsh ) a characteristic (ṣifatī) which is independent of its relationship to that thing and the existence of this thing. 1
