ABSTRACT

Bodies which are capable of composition are constantly receptive to motion from the mover so that they become united (gird āyand), and hence a composite. If the direction from which they receive a composition is in agreement with their own nature, then the movement will be according to their own nature. For whatever is inclined towards a direction will undoubtedly move towards that specified place when no obstacle bars its way. It does not seek a place by itself for which it has no propensity. Accordingly, if bodies do not naturally seek the place to which they are inclined but seek another place instead, the motion will correspond to that of their own nature. If they are not inclined towards any place, then their receptivity to motion is due to a mover.
