ABSTRACT
It is the primary purpose of the first two chapters to specify metaphysics (‘ilm-i barīn) as a special science whose objects of inquiry are independent of our action (fi‘l) and of sensible movables (i.e. material bodies); the latter are independent both in definition (ḥadd) and in our conceptualization (imagination; wahm).
