ABSTRACT
Translocal space encompasses the experiences and materialities of everyday lives in multiple places. In this conceptual frame, a person who lives in two or more locations often separated by national boundaries and distance has emotional, linguistic and material access to both simultaneously. Technologies that facilitate texting, messaging, instant cash transfers, talking by mobile phones and handheld computers or Skype provide an immediacy of experience and the interpenetration of one space by another.
