ABSTRACT

Despite huge income dierences, wars, and the natural desire of people to better themselves, nearly all humans in the world live in their native country. Even in the global economy of today, only about 200 million, or little more than 3 percent, of the world’s 6.5 billion people are living outside the country they were born in. These numbers suggest that we should not ask why people immigrate, but why most people do not immigrate.
