ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how a student can learn from the people that they may encounter during college. Other people matter in leadership and they always will. The most often mentioned challenge from other people that led to a lasting change in the student leader's leadership was receiving some sort of feedback or recognition. The college environment is generally an easy place to meet people and make friends. You are surrounded by thousands of others who are interested in meeting others. And there are many activities that are designed to help you get introduced to other students. Another lesson that students learn from being a role model and mentor is how to deal with diversity. Lessons centered on learning about, appreciating, and learning to role model, mentor, and give guidance to people who are different from you in many different ways.
