ABSTRACT

High Performance Learning theory assumes that most students are indeed capable of achieving the high levels of academic performance once seen as the domain of the very few and that the role of a school is to help the vast majority of their students to achieve at that level. The High Performance Learning framework is the way in which this theory can be converted into practical action at the school level and creates world-leading schools. At the heart of the framework are the Advanced Cognitive Performance characteristics (ACPs) and the Values, Attitudes and Attributes (VAAs). The correct mindset is a precondition for High Performance Learning. Enquiry-based learning is an approach by which new learning usually starts with a question or questions that lead to an investigation. Expertise development may be defined in layman's terms as not just covering the curriculum but developing the habits and behaviours associated with expertise in a given domain.
