ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on one type of audio open educational resource—a podcast. The Oxford Dictionary defines podcast as 'A digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or portable media player, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically'. A podcast is not simply an audio file that is available on the internet for listening. Web radio has been around since the mid-1990s. Like traditional radio, one could listen to a continuous, synchronous feed of audio content from a provider without the option to play specific programs at one's convenience. Capturing your audio can be accomplished using a number of different software options. While there are differing opinions by audio recording experts about the use of headphones during the recording process, we suggest using headphones for three reasons.
