ABSTRACT
Semantics talks about the meaning of language, and the role it plays in actual communication. In this subfield of linguistics, there have been studies focusing on different levels of units (morphemes, words, sentences, discourse) with different approaches (sense: lexical semantics; denotation: formal semantics; mental image: cognitive semantics, etc.).
