ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book reveals the complicated nature of boys' relation with place in school. Place seemed to show up for boys in use, expectation and description. The book introduces photography as an aesthetic and documentary practice, and it functioned as a mode of thinking and doing, thus increasing the representational possibilities and capabilities available to research participants. Silvan Tomkins explained that Weak Theory "can account only for 'near' phenomena" and "is little better than a description of the phenomena which it purports to explain". The book argues that a post-masculinity perspective reduces one's critical capacity to observe how some men typically dominate women and other men. It focuses on how men show up or come into appearance in and through other concepts might not disclose some of the significant inequalities that are maintained through their appearance as male.
