ABSTRACT

The case study presented in this chapter is focused on the practice of the Foyer Federation. The Foyer Federation has around 300 housing schemes for young people in housing need across the UK and works with approximately 10,000 young people a year. It is a non-statutory organisation who offer information and guidance, accreditation and assurance to a range of support providers that may work with any of the 30,000 young people living in Foyers across the UK. It is essential that homeless young people are supported into a range of accommodation and support as quickly as possible. The Foyer Federation in the UK works directly in this space. The Foyer's theory of change map makes it clear what is on offer at the Foyer that the young person may choose as support. Rather the young person negotiates what they want to take from the Foyer's offer and what they are prepared to give in return.
