ABSTRACT

Like in chapters five to seven, this one opens with a short introduction to Italy’s mode of governance and the country’s population and education system. Next it introduces the reader to the national Adult Basic and Lower Secondary Education (ABLSE) system and, specifically, its transition at the time of putting into effect the reorganisation of ex Permanent Territorial Centres for Adult Education (CTPs) into Provincial Centres for Adult Instruction (CPIAs). On this ground, the sections that follow untangle a composite plot that sheds light on whether and how local actions in adult education tie in with national governance and global networking.
