ABSTRACT

A good storyteller knows how he is going to grab his audience's imagination, surprise them with twists, amuse them with a joke. Stories need a beginning, middle, and an end. Mysteries are built to reveal a surprise ending. Romances are built for the lovers to finally unite after much travail at the end of the story. It is much easier to build a story when you know the ending. The ending will inform the beginning. Knowing the ending of one's film story will help to shape the beginning of their character's journey. A satisfying ending does not necessarily mean that all loose ends need to be neatly tied. The longer the character journey, the more significant the change, the stronger the story will be. The original film has to be successful (financially) in order for a sequel to be made. Sequels used should be able to stand alone as good films.
