ABSTRACT

Organizational theory research is flourishing. Organizational theory research covers a variety of topics and employs numerous theoretical approaches. Within this diversity, there is a need for some parts of the discourse to be focused to fully reap its insights so that some organization theory research is conducted within a particular paradigm. The chapters in this book are weighted toward research undertaken in the contingency theory paradigm (Donaldson 2001) and to a lesser degree the stewardship theory paradigm (Davis, Schoorman, and Donaldson 1997). They show that these two established traditions continue to have growth and relevance.
