ABSTRACT

This chapter sketches developments in organisation studies that parallel and, in most cases, follows crucial developments in dance and performance studies: it witness an increasing interest in aesthetic perception in both fields, along with a growing attention not only on the body, but its movement. The chapter then focuses on the central developments of the two different fields of organisation and dance studies to build a basis for a dance perspective on organisations. An inclusion of dance studies and the movement-related, kinaesthetic dimension is a promising extension of not only the organisational aesthetics research field, but organisation studies and management in general. To show this, The chapter also address issues such as embodied and tacit knowing and briefly reviews studies on the body in organization.
