ABSTRACT
Since Reinhart (1976, 1983) discussed in detail the notion of c-command, several different defi nitions concerning c-command have been proposed. Among them only two can be considered to be particularly infl uential: a) the preliminary defi nition given by Reinhart and b) the revised version proposed by Chomsky (1986a), shown, respectively, as follows in (1).
