ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 looks into the future towards 2030 and begins to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the projection of key statistics in China so as to develop a better understanding of the dynamics within the nation. The analysis is preceded by a discussion on issues of data quality and the planning and intuitional context in China. In particular, the trends and forecasts about economic development, urbanisation and income disparity are studied with respect with to their implications on transport sustainability.
