ABSTRACT
Can building materials contribute to an increased risk of cancer? A significant number of modern chemical-based construction materials contain chemicals that are known as carcinogenic and thus can possibly cause cancer. It is claimed by Cancer Research UK that half of us will get cancer at some point in our lives and this risk has increased in recent years. The increase in cancer is usually attributed to smoking (even though this has significantly reduced in recent years) ageing, obesity and diet.1
