ABSTRACT

The quality of imagination that assists people leading creative processes can be described at the same time as relational imagination, recalling the primary act of construing the virtual other within people, and subjective imagination, responsible of narratives. In dramatherapy, this kind of imagination engenders the vision of change, helping people to envisage new paths in a journey that sometimes can appear as erratic and unpredictable. Everyone can recapitulate the notion of drama that sustains the dramatherapy practice as follows: the setting up of a special frame of reality, which at the same time mirrors and reinvents the world. The dramatherapist has the tools to help people to intensify or release the emotional grips. The cathartic principle implies the circulation of emotions and thoughts within the versions of the world everyone creates; however, they are not confined there, but they dialogue with emotions and thoughts of real life.
