ABSTRACT

Documentation is a statement of pride and ownership. This chapter covers various document creation, maintenance, and information management processes. It outlines the basic "best practices" and hopefully inspire a more collaborative and comprehensive approach toward the broadcast facility's technical information management. The creation and maintenance of technical documentation is a cyclical process. The initial process for technical documentation mirrors the same life-cycle phases of the facility creation or facility-wide upgrade. These phases are conceptual, build, and as-built. The chapter covers the various cloud services and options offered by multiple vendors. The facility standard is a statement of what standards and conventions, on multiple levels, will be used within the broadcast facility. Operational and training documentation should be made accessible on a facility intranet. A critical section of the as-built documentation will be the maintenance and inventory section. Most software document and computer-aided design tools have the capability of saving files in multiple file types or formats.
