ABSTRACT

Avid has an expansive array of effects that will enable one to do many impressive things to their footage, everything from adding basic transitions to creating very complicated multi-layer effect composites. Avid divides all its many visual effects into two columns: Filters and Transitions. There are numerous ways one might want to change a transition once it is been edited into the Timeline, such as its duration, starting point or ending point. As one move a video transition to the left or right, they will see the Source and Record monitors turn into a view called Transition Corner Display. If one look in the Effect Palette, the effects with green dots to the left of their name are real-time effects, which means they will play in real time. Media Composer has the ability to play these without rendering, one can just apply the effect and instantly see the result when they hit Play.
