ABSTRACT
This chapter shows how to optimize Avid workspace by customizing settings and streamlining the editing process through smart organization and powerful search tools. Customization of editing settings is so important. Most good editors carry their Avid user settings around with them so that they can load their personal editing workspace at a moment's notice. The chapter focuses primarily on user settings, which allow the editors to customize and save settings that they can take with them anywhere. It focuses efforts on four big types of settings: Keyboard, Bin View, Timeline, and Workspaces. Probably the most popular and useful type of Avid user setting is the mappable keyboard. The Command Palette is a window that holds just about every command button Avid offers. The commands are organized into functions and each function has a tab. In addition to mapping buttons and menu items to keyboard, the editors can also map buttons and menu items to command spaces on their user interface.
