ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the way in which unique culture has been developed and the ways in which Human Resource Development interventions are managed. It also explores a changing workforce whose members increasingly look for a more proactive management style and ongoing feedback about their working lives and their career prospects. People at the heart of Aberdeen's culture, but it does not suit all people or organisations and is not a prescription for success; it demonstrates how culture can be sustained through change. Learning about the business is key, training programmes are tailored for the graduates and apprentices, and they have the opportunity to find their skill set while rotating around areas of the business as well as international locations. Constant feedback from both parties, team supervisors and individuals, ensured growth and development of the employee and the programmes. Aberdeen depends on its people to move the business forward during these changes and successfully managed this for the last 30 years.
