ABSTRACT

The possibilities for entrepreneurs to facilitate the collective development of a business idea establish an interesting research issue linked to co-creation. It appears that a distinctive feature of reward-based crowdfunding is the joint effort to develop and promote a business idea rather than primarily evaluating a business plan. It is important that future research focuses on the co-creation possibilities and its impact on the organisational legitimacy and resource assembly process. Further, our data-set revealed that women experience a higher success rate than males. This presents a fascinating area for future study, given the high male-to-female ratio generally present in both entrepreneur and investor populations.
