ABSTRACT
We suggest that a useful understanding of dialectics, however incomplete and cryptic, can be
found in the works of the early Marx. This understanding was subsequently distorted and pro-
blematically re-articulated in two distinct versions of dialectics: dialectical materialism and sys-
tematic dialectics.
