ABSTRACT

Paula has advanced cancer, and knows she does not have long to live. When things became increasingly difficult for her to care for herself, she moved in with her daughter Megan. Paula has been receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments, but they have come at a huge cost of energy and painful side effects. She is finding that her memory is not as sharp as it once was and she can no longer see out of one of her eyes. Her daughter, Megan, invites Lorraine to hold a conversation with Paula to help her give definition to her living during this part of her life. This chapter will be built around the conversation that ensues between Paula, Megan, and Lorraine.
