ABSTRACT
We have so far avoided talking explicitly of linguistic behaviour, and indeed linguistic behaviour is that aspect of cognitive behaviour which is least often tackled by experimental psychologists. This is not to say, however, that there is not a good deal of experimental evidence in this field, but it is a small amount relative to that existing in the other fields of cognition.
