ABSTRACT
When, in Chapter 8, I wrote negatively about the prospects for an allembracing philosophy of officiating, I was careful to keep separate the very different issues that occur for sports where the resolution (the ‘winning and losing’) is determined by the informed decisions of judges. Here, I turn to some of those issues.
