Several academic fields claim Josephine Goldmark as a progenitor. Histories of American social work and industrial relations praise her research on labor conditions. Nursing histories cite her 1923 report on public-health nursing. Law textbooks see her as an avatar of legal realism. The American Psycho logical Association awarded her a 2003 posthumous distinguished leader ship award for her occupational-health psychology research.
