ABSTRACT

The theory of alpha, beta, and gamma change is applicable to changes occurring across organization development or in fact any such training evaluation study. Although I am not aware of any meta-analyses on the subject (the Svyantek, Goodman, Benz, and Gard [1999] analysis might be an exception), comprehensive reviews have been conducted (see Day and Lance 2004; Riordan, Richardson, Schaffer, and Vandenberg 2001). I give a three-star rating to the validity of the theory and organizational behavior yields an importance rating of 3.77 (see Miner 2006a, Chapter 18, 347–349; 2006b, Chapter 17; 2007, Epilogue on Bureaucracy 4).
