ABSTRACT
Feng was selected as a noble lady of the court by the Emperor Wen Chendi of the Northern Wei dynasty and soon was selected as his empress. In 465 a .d . Emperor Wen Chendi died, to be succeeded by the crown prince who served as Emperor Xian Wendi and conferred the title of empress dowager upon Feng.
