Yang’s body was reburied in Chang’an. The new Tang Emperor asked the artisan-painters to draw a portrait of Yang Guifei and hung it in his palace. He would view the portrait every day, reminiscing about the past. The greatness of the early Tang dy nasty was never fully reclaimed and slowly the empire decayed until it fell in 907 a .d .
