ABSTRACT
When Xiao Chuo was very young, she began to show her intelligence. She excelled in many things both domestic and ar tistic. Her father often said happily: ‘ ‘This daughter will become a high-minded girl.” This prophecy proved true as his daughter became a ruler of the Liao dynasty, ruling parts of northern China.
