ABSTRACT
Although public health services are a function of county governments in many parts of the United States, they are provided by city governments in some regions. Services typically span a broad spectrum but often include health clinics, disease outbreak investigations, community programs promoting hygiene and healthy practices, vermin and mosquito control, and the regular inspection of food establishments.
