ABSTRACT
Geothermal energy is heat from inside the earth. It is accessed by drilling water or steam wells in a process similar to drilling for oil or natural gas. Geothermal energy is an enormous, underused heat and power resource that emits little or no greenhouse gases, has average system availability of 95 percent, and is a wholly domestic resource.
