ABSTRACT

What is macroeconomics? Macroeconomics is the part of economics that deals with the behavior of the economy as a whole. In comparison, microeconomics, discussed in Part II, investigates the behavior of individual consumers, individual business owners, and individual employees (one of the factors of production). Macroeconomics is concerned with such problems as the causes of economic depression, inflation, and growth of the whole economy. This chapter deals with the rate of unemployment, how instability and business cycles began, how they spread, and how they effect people.
