ABSTRACT
When an economist says, “We don’t really know what to do about infla-tion,” his state ment, like many in the Bible, is subject to interpretation. One interpretation is that we do know what to do. The proof is that we knew what to do in World War II. We im posed price and wage controls and instituted rationing. President Ford and his advisers have forgotten.
