ABSTRACT

There is no chance of bringing inflation under control with the meth-ods that are currently in use. The Labor-Management Group of eight labor leaders and eight corporate execu tives who advise the president are adamantly opposed to an incomes policy. The president has not given the slightest hint that he knows what to do. The economics profession in the main is only capable of deploring the fact that labor unions and large corporations do not allow the price system to work properly. There are shudders at the thought of wage-price controls. Nearly everyone knows that the present mode of operating is bad, but nearly everyone is averse to changing it.
