ABSTRACT

The focus o f attention. I f we consider our field o f vision a t any m om ent, e.g., w hen we are looking attentively a t a m ap on the wall, we find th a t a certain thing, say a river m outh, is in the focus o f vision and seen clearly. T he edges o f the m ap are less clear though they are in the near m argin. Still less clear are the objects vaguely visible th rough a w indow a t the side o f the room . W hile we keep one eye on the m ap we m ay not be able to tell w hat an object on the o ther side of the w indow m ay be, though we should detect if it moved.
