ABSTRACT

This chapter and the ensuing two chapters are devoted to examining the contributions to event studies of core disciplines and closely related fields of study. Research notes make specific links to event studies, and figures are provided for each discipline and field that provide a short description of its focus and major contributions to the nature and meaning of event experiences, antecedents, planning and producing events, outcomes and patterns and processes (i.e. our framework from Figure 1.3). A good starting point is anthropology, as this discipline has a long history of studying planned events and makes substantial contributions to our understanding of experiences and meanings.
