ABSTRACT

The staging of planned events cannot ignore the many public policies and resulting regulations or laws that impact on the event sector. Conversely, policy-makers in many public policy domains have to gain a better understanding of planned events of all types in order to ensure that events can be a sustainable force for cultural, social and economic progress. Ideally, governments at all levels will create a vision and take an integrated approach to events, or at least ensure that policies affecting events are proactive and coordinated.
