ABSTRACT

Cross-cultural competency when engaging in neuropsychological assessment is an essential concern of professional psychological practice. In spite of its clinical relevance, there is limited guidance on how to perform cross-culturally competent neuropsychological examinations. This chapter aims to escort practitioners through the various challenges involved in the cognitive assessment of the recently growing Hispanic population. It will present current developments to consider when embarking in cross-cultural assessment with Hispanics in an ethical and competent manner. A fairly comprehensive list of published neuropsychological tests will be introduced in this chapter to provide the reader with a wide selection of cross-culturally validated measures that can be used when examining Hispanics.
