ABSTRACT

In June of 2015, Texas police officer Eric Casebolt resigned from his post just days after footage of him dragging a young teenage girl in a bikini to the ground at a pool party in McKinney, Texas, and pulling his gun on several others, went viral. Police were called to the scene after a resident in the neighborhood reported a disturbance at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool. Accounts of the events that took place that day were varied dramatically. Some claim there was racism involved on the part of police officers on the scene, claiming that they were cursing at African American teens, and taking things way too far in their use of force. Others maintain that law enforcement handled things properly and that it was the teens who were not following directions.1
