ABSTRACT

On March 9, 2014, Mexican authorities gunned down Nazario Moreno, Mexican drug cartel leader and founder of La Familia Michoacana, a notorious drug cartel and organized crime syndicate in the Mexican state of Michoacan. Moreno was one of the Mexican government’s most wanted criminals. Referred to as “the craziest one” for his dangerous acts of criminal violence, he was reported to have tossed five decapitated heads onto a dance floor.1
