ABSTRACT
With hindsight, one of the most remarkable things that you might have done in your academic
career was start writing about globalization before almost anybody else in the academy. And
what I am trying to pursue in this interview is to discuss the ways in which you came to that
concept and started using it in a very self-conscious way. So let us go back to that period in
the 1960s when you first wrote about it. Professor Modelski, could you please describe the
first kind of intimations, the first way in which you came to use the term ‘globalization’?
