ABSTRACT

In Chapter Four, we looked at the laws designed to protect people with disabilities and focused mainly on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). We then examined the team-based approach for determining eligibility for special education and writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). In Chapter Five, we will examine the categories of disabilities that fall under IDEA, as well as considerations for the school-based team in determining eligibility and developing an IEP.
